How should automobile injection molds be maintained

Apr 25, 2022

As the most important molding equipment in the production and processing process, the quality of the injection mold directly affects the quality of the product. Moreover, since the mold accounts for a large proportion of the production cost of the enterprise, its service life is directly related to the cost of the injection molded product. Therefore, improving the quality of automobile injection molds, maintaining and extending their life cycle is an important management content for injection molding enterprises to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

1. First, equip each pair of molds with a resume card to record and count their use, care (lubrication, cleaning, rust prevention) and damage in detail. Based on this, you can find out which parts and components have been damaged and the degree of wear, so as to provide discoveries. and information on solving the problem, as well as the molding process parameters of the mold and the materials used in the product, so as to shorten the test run time of the mold and improve the production efficiency.

2. Under the normal operation of the injection molding machine and the mold, test various properties of the mold, and measure the size of the plastic parts after Z. Through this information, the current state of the mold can be determined, and the cavity, core, cooling The damage of the system and the parting surface, etc., can be judged according to the information provided by the plastic parts, and the damage status and maintenance measures of the mold can be judged.

3. Focus on tracking and testing the important parts of the mold: the role of the ejector and guide parts is to ensure the opening and closing of the mold and the ejection of the plastic parts. If any part is stuck due to damage, it will lead to production stoppage, so the mold should be kept frequently. Lubricate the thimble and guide post (use the most suitable lubricant), and regularly check whether the thimble and guide post are deformed and surface damaged. Once found, they should be replaced in time; after completing a production cycle, the working surface of the mold, The moving and guiding parts are painted with professional anti-rust oil, and special attention should be paid to the protection of the elastic strength of the bearing parts with gears, rack molds and spring molds to ensure that they are always in good condition.

4. With the continuous production time, the cooling water channel is easy to deposit scale, rust, silt and algae, which makes the cooling channel section smaller and the cooling channel narrower, which greatly reduces the heat exchange rate between the cooling liquid and the mold and increases the production of the enterprise. Therefore, the cleaning of the flow channel should be paid enough attention.

5. The maintenance of the hot runner mold, heating and control system is very important to prevent the occurrence of production failures. Therefore, after each production cycle, the belt heaters, rod heaters, heating probes and thermocouples on the mold should be measured with an ohmmeter. If they are damaged, they should be replaced in time and checked with the mold resume. Compare and keep records so that problems can be detected in a timely manner and countermeasures can be taken.

6. Pay attention to the surface maintenance of the mold, which directly affects the surface quality of the product, and the focus is on preventing rust. Therefore, it is particularly important to choose a suitable, high-quality and professional anti-rust oil.

After the mold completes the production task, different methods should be adopted according to different injection materials to carefully remove the injection residue. Copper rods, copper wire, and professional mold cleaners can be used to remove injection molding and other deposits remaining in molds, then air dry. It is strictly forbidden to clean up hard objects such as wires and steel bars to avoid scratching the surface. If rust spots are produced due to injection corrosion, it should be ground and polished with a grinder, sprayed with professional anti-rust oil, and then stored in a dry, cool, and dust-free place.
