Product Introduction
What is IML molds?
With IML, product producers may have different colors, visual effects, and/or textures when the component comes out of the mold as it is being manufactured. When a plastic item is decorated with a label, this is referred to as In Mold Labeling (IML). This is a kind of injection molding method in which the decoration of the plastic part is generated during the plastic injection process. To put it another way, an automated system inserts a pre-printed label into the cavity of an injection mold, after which plastic is injected over the label. An ornamented or "labeled" plastic component is produced as a result of this process, with the label permanently fused to the part itself.
FAQ
1. How does the label adhere to the piece?
Because there is no adhesive on this label, it is not your typical label. It is a label that is made of the same material as the thing it is attached to. A result of the high temperature and pressure of the molten plastic being injected into the mold, the label gets embedded in the object's wall and therefore becomes a structural component of the finished product.
2. Can molds that are not specifically designed for IML be used for IML production?
"Yes, but only after verification," says the response to the question.
There are several instances in which it is feasible to utilize the same mold for both IML and conventional manufacture with just minimal alterations.
In other words, it is the potential of entirely changing the look of a product while still using the same sort of form and the same type of tooling.
